Alumni Career Networking

Jointly sponsored by the Career Services Center, and the WVU Alumni Association will kick off in the Summer Semester of 2008. This program is free for alumni and current students. There is no commentment other than your time.

Goals of the Program

• To provide WVU students a balanced and comprehensive approach to career decision-making.
• To fully engage alumni and friends in the value they bring to career planning and placement of WVU students.

Alumni Mentors

Networking: The Alumni Career Networking Program is designed to enlist the volunteer support of working alumni, friends, and employers. A student will correspond with an Alumni Mentor to learn about a specific field of study. The Alumni Mentor can assist students by sharing his/her specialized skills, advancement tracks, qualifying licensing or certifications, and knowledge base. This may include career shadowing.

Shadowing: This important educational activity will help the student confirm, fine tune, or rethink their career plans. This will enable students to observe the professionals in their field during a one day (or half day) period. The shadowing experience can take place over break or any time that is convenient for the student and Alumni Mentor.

Students

Register as a student participant by completing your profile with MonsterTRAK. Once registered on MonsterTRAK, you will find the Network Mentors under "featured resources" on your start page. Select "Search" and specify your search criteria. Registration to MonsterTRAK is free to all currently enrolled West Virginia University students and the process takes very little time.
