
Berkeley County is located just 90 minutes from the Washington, D.C.- Baltimore, Md. area. It is the center county in the tip of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. Berkeley County is the second oldest county in the state. Created in 1772 from Virginia, the county is named for Norbourne Berkeley, (Baron Boutetort) colonial governor of Virginia from 1768-1770. Our office provides many local educational programs to area families, businesses, and communities. We are also your link to other WVU Extension offices and to West Virginia University colleges and offices. WVU's Berkeley County Extension office is part of the national land-grant system. Each office has the same mission as its foundation: to help people put knowledge to work. Each WVU Extension Office provides the public with information on just about any topic, from office publications, on-line resources, radio or TV. In fact, Berkeley County Extension news can be heard every Monday through Friday at 8:55 a.m. on WEPM Radio (1340 AM).
