Doddridge County is in north central West Virginia, between Clarksburg and Parkersburg via U.S. Route 50. Created in 1845 from parts of Harrison, Tyler, Ritchie, and Lewis counties, and named for Phillip Doddridge, a distinguished statesman of Western Virginia. Home county of J. H. Dis DeBar, who designed the Great Seal and Coat of Arms of West Virginia. This rural county's population of 7,093 is ranked 54th in the state. The primary industries are related to oil and gas production and development.
