Application of
Financial Holds
A financial hold is placed on any account that has a balance
due of more than $200 over 10 days outstanding.Effect of Financial Holds
Financial holds preclude students from receiving University services
including:
- Registration
- Drop/Add
- Grades
- Transcript requests
- Graduation
Release of Financial Holds
- Holds are released automatically on the next business day for balances paid in full. A same day release of this hold can be done by request with guaranteed funds (cash, check, credit card, money order, or cashier's check). Students can pay in person or by phone at (304) 293-4006. For any accounts that have been sent to a collection agency, the student will need to contact the agency to make payment in full. WVU cannot accept payment for accounts that have been sent for collection.
