New Students

Welcome to West Virginia University! An important step in your upcoming enrollment is applying for housing and paying your housing deposit.

For your convenience, there are two ways you can apply for housing and pay the deposit:

1. Online: Complete the application and pay the deposit online through the STAR Information System, accessible through your MIX account. In addition to the application and deposit, you will select your meal plan, and during your priority period you can also select your room.
2. Paper: Request a paper Housing application through STAR Information System. Follow the same steps below. On item six (6) click on "Reuqest Paper Application" and submit. One will be mailed to your permanent home address. Complete the paper appication and mail it in with your housing deposit.

To complete your Housing Application and pay your housing deposit online:

1. Sign into Mountaineer Information Xpress (MIX) using your MIX ID and password (you should have already received instructions for using the MIX account - more information on MIX).
2. Click on the "STAR" tab.
3. Click on "Star Information System" link.
4. Click on "Student Financial AId and Housing" link.
5. Click on "Housing" link.
6. Click on "Housing Application" link to complete the application and pay the deposit, or click the "Pay Housing Deposit" link if you have previously submitted the Housing Application.

Reminder: You must complete your Housing Application before the online system will allow you to pay your housing deposit.
