This site supports the course in Trial Advocacy which may be offered this Summer at the West Virginia University College of Law. There will be a meeting to answer questions about the course and conduct a lottery for places on March 23 at 12 noon in Room 157 (see Key Dates). Students are encouraged to review this entire web site before attending that meeting. Copies of the contract for this course may be downloaded from this site. They must be turned in to the receiptionist between noon on March 21 and noon on March 25. Except as noted below, admission to the course will be on a first come first served basis. Students with reasons which compel them to take trial advocacy in the summer (ie early graduation, etc) must see Professor McDiarmid during the week from March 7-11. If she approves advance admission, such students will be awarded a place in the course prior to the open enrollment period. As most of you are aware, we offer this course based on student demand. If twenty-four (24) students sign up for the course, then it will be held. If more than twenty-four (24) students want to participate, students will be admitted to the course in groups of eight. A maximum of forty (40) students may enroll. Each admitted student must pay a fee of $875. That fee is due by April 11, 2005. Any admitted student who cannot pay the fee by that date must see Professor McDiarmid in advance of that date to sign a promissory note. Final payments on all promissory notes are due by July 11, 2005. If a student does not tender payment or sign a promissory note by April 11, 2005, that student will be dropped from the course. As a pre-requisite for participating in the course students must have completed the basic course in evidence and have attended a class in trial preparation which will be held on April 8 at 4:00 to 6:00 in room 153. See Key Dates. Any student not attending the trial preparation class without prior approval will be dropped from the course. No exemptions from the evidence course will be given. The Summer Trial Advocacy class itself will span the period from August 7 to August 15. Attendance all days and all classes is mandatory. If you have any questions about this matter contract Professor McDiarmid at mamcdiarmid@mail.wvu.edu . |
