WHAT TO BRING
- $20.00 per student registration fee. This fee will be collected at the Creative Arts Center on February 14th during registration. For simplicity sake, we ask that each director bring one check (if possible) for all participating students. Pelase make the check payable to "WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY (WVU)",
- A portable wire music stand - The Division of Music will furnish all available stands. With three large bands, however, there will definitely be a shortage. Please bring a wire stand to help allesviate this problem.
- Any needed instrument/music accessories - mutes, reeds, sticks/mallets, pencils, etc.
- Dress clothes for Saturday's concert. Coat and tie/dresses are requested. NO UNIFORMS should be worn for the concert.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- The WVU Bands will furnish the guest conductors, music, percussion instruments, and all operational equipment for the bands. Percussionists should bring sticks and mallets, if possible.
- The participating members will have their nights' lodging, meals, and the $20.00 registration fee as their only expenses.
- The WVU Bands will NOT provide any large instruments like tubas or low woodwinds to use for the weekend. Please plan accordingly. A safe room will be provided upon request to store personal large instruments.
- For the chair auditions, students do not need to prepare any materials. Auditions will be based upon scales and sight-reading.
- The Honor Bands' concert will be recorded and compact disc orders will be taken at the event.
HOUSING INFORMATION
Each student is responsible for his or her own housing arrangements for the weekend. Housing arrangements can often be made with friends or older brothers/sisters in order to save the cost of a hotel room. Any housing arrangements that are approved by both your parents and your band director are suitable to us. The WVU Bands have NO involvement concerning this phase of the event. Also, there are many fast food restaurants located within a 1/2 mile from the Creative Arts Center. Students will be on their own for meals
