I've been there since 1997.

I work in environmental law and insurance coverage counselling and litigation
What kind of additional training does this job require besides your degree?
I went to Law school and received a J.D. Admission to the state bar is
also necessary to practice in a particular state; I'm admitted in Illinois and
Pennsylvania, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court.

My job doesn't involve much travel, but jobs in law often do. I have been
to London, where the international insurance market is concentrated.

I enjoy the opportunities to solve complex problems.
How do you feel Philosophy has prepared you for this job?
Philosophy sharpened my logical skills that are needed to analyze legal problems.
Do you think philosophy has prepared you better than other majors might have?
Probably. I didn't choose to major in philosophy with the intent of going to law school, but I am glad I did.
Is there anything philosophical about what you do?/ Do you think your background in philosophy and your interest in philosophy have any relevance in your current life and career?
Not specifically in my area of law, but there are many areas of law such as ethics that are much more philosophical.
What attracted you to Philosopy/Why did you choose to major in Philosophy?
The introductory courses at WVU were what really got me interested in Philosophy
What advice would you give to an up and coming student considering majoring in Philosophy?
Philosophy is a great major that prepares you for a variety of different fields. Philosophy can be more difficult and is, in general, more intellectually demanding/stimulating than other majors.
What would you say to someone who was worried about the job prospects of Philosophy majors?
Compared to other fields in the humanities, Philosophy is a great preparation for a variety of endeavors.
What is the number one thing you learned from your experiences as an undergraduate Philosophy major at WVU?
All problems may be more difficult than they appear on the surface. Also, I learned that there can be many good arguments for different opinions and points of view. I still believe that philosophy is the best way to attempt to arrive at the truth.
Anything else?
The WVU Philosophy program prepared me well for my career. It is an outstanding program.
