Master of Science Degree in Athletic Coaching Education (ACE)
The Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences at West Virginia University in the offers both on-campus and online Master of Science degrees in Athletic Coaching Education (ACE).
ON-Campus ACE Master's Degree
The on-campus ACE master's degree is a 36-credit hour program that begins in the fall. Industrious students can complete the course work in 3 semesters (fall, spring and summer) while others may choose to spread the program out over two academic years. All courses must be taken on campus. All students will be required to design and complete a coaching internship and research opportunities are available.
Online ACE Master's Degree
The ACE online master's degree has been approved for in-state tuition, regardless of residency of students in the program. It is a 36-credit hour program that begins in the summer. It is a two-year program that includes participation in four summer classes on the WVU campus (two each summer) and two years of online course work. Each new cohort begins in the summer and follows a set sequence of courses for six semesters (Summer I, Fall I, Spring I, Summer II, Fall II and Spring II.) WebCT Vista is the course design system used for the online components of the program.
