The African American gymnasts identified
below made significant contributions to the sport. Not only did they dominate,
but they also opened the door for African Americans to participate. With
only a handful of African Americans participating in this sport, these
individuals shined among them all, and have proved to America that they
are some of the greatest. Three of these individuals are Diane Durham and
Ron Galimore.
