Curriculum Vitae

Biographical Sketch

I am currently in my first year as an Assistant Professor in Sport Management at West Virginia University. Prior to arriving at WVU, I spent one year in the Sport Management program at Bowling Green State University where I taught the following courses: Sport Event Management and Research Methods in Sport. During the fall of 2007, I also finished the requirements for my Ph.D. at Indiana University-Bloomington.

Research Interests

My research interests deal primarily with the challenges facing nonrevenue sport programs at the NCAA level. While I am interested in a variety of different sport teams, the main emphasis of my research involves finding strategies to improve the sustainability of college wrestling and its member institutions. In order to do this, I am actively working to find ways to enhance the marketability of the college wrestling product (www.ncaawrestlingresearch.com). Below are some examples of my research projects.

  • Team segmentation at the Big Ten Championships : The study focuses on improving future Big Ten marketing efforts through consumer segmentation based on team affiliation.
  • In Pursuit of Satisfaction & Fortification: Stakeholder perceptions of NCAA Intercollegiate Wrestling rules & regulations : The study focuses on the performance of a product assessment of the rules and regulations implemented within college wrestling.

Professional Experiences

In addition to my academic experiences, I have also had some unique professional work experiences during my career. From 1999 to 2007, I had the opportunity to work for an ESPN production team in a variety of different sport events (i.e., NCAA Wrestling Championships, MLS Soccer Draft). In the fall of 2006, I served as a cameraman and booth set-up assistant for the NCAA Football production crew. Additionally, I earned experience as an Assistant Wrestling Coach for two years at Indiana University.
