Graduate Assistantships
The following are Graduate Assistantship (GA) and Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) opportunities available to accepted Sport Management graduate students. Additional GA positions may also become available in future.
WVU Football Equipment Assistantship
Responsibilities include : Assisting equipment manager during home and away games including travel accommodations, locker room set-up, player equipment requests, as well as specific duties and obligations during games; aiding with the ordering, purchasing and inventorying of player, coaches, and staff clothing and equipment; daily maintenance of player equipment and laundry; and m anaging sixteen student assistants with specific job duties during training camp and regular season practices and games. Must have previous knowledge of football equipment fitting procedures including helmets, shoulder pads and shoes. College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Basic Instruction Program (BIP) Teaching Assistantship

WVU Athletics Sports Marketing Assistantship
Responsibilities for WVU include creating, implementing and evaluating marketing and promotional strategies for eight varsity sports, designing promotional materials, planning in-game entertainment, writing game scripts and managing game-day operations and group ticket sales. WVU Athletics Compliance Assistantship
Responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director for Athletic Compliance in the coordination of a comprehensive program to ensure compliance with all NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, and West Virginia University rules. Graduate assistants are responsible for a wide-range of duties, including monitoring prospective student-athlete recruitment, student-athlete transfers, and conducting research for rules interpretations. Other diverse assignments provided by the Director and Assistant Director will provide graduate assistant with a wealth of experience in the ever-evolving area of athletic compliance. Written and verbal communication skills are a must, as graduate assistants are required to interact with student-athletes, athletic staff members, and other institutional staff. Sports Communications Assistantship
Responsibilities include assisting sports information director in coordinating media relations for selected sports within West Virginia's 17-sport FBS athletics program; serving as primary contact for select sports plus working with football and men's/women's basketball programs; assisting in statistical operations and maintenance of conference and NCAA statistics; assisting in production of media guides, recruiting brochures and press releases; assisting in maintenance of athletics web site; assisting in office management, supervision of student assistants and other duties as assigned. Candidate should have some desktop publishing experience and solid communication and writing skills. Position is generally two years long. Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) Assistantship
Football Game Day Duties include taking donors to the suite level via golf cart, suit cultivation, helping with special event coordination including, but not limited to WVU Hall of Fame, Team Reunions and assisting with game day luncheon check in. Day-to-Day Duties include updating and maintaining both the Varsity Club and Mountaineer Athletic Club website, organizing and planning special events, computer work, work with endowments, and other duties as specified. WVU Athletics Facilities Assistantship
Graduate assistant will be required to be the onsite event manager for all home events for the following sports: Volleyball, Women's soccer, Men's soccer, Women's basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics, and Baseball. GA will be required to assist in event management for all home events for the following sports: Football, Men's basketball. GA will be responsible for renting, delivering, recharging, and maintaining all game-day radios and accompanying equipment for Athletic Department staff for all sports listed above. GA will be responsible for obtaining payment for officials, umpires, referees, judges, etc. for all sports listed above. GA will be responsible for the timely return of all signed receipts of payment to the Athletic business Office. WVU Athletics Business Office Assistantship
Responsibilities include assisting Athletic Business staff in completing processing of accounts receivables and payables, as well as financial statements preparation. Accounting background preferred. WVU Student Recreation Center Intramural Assistantship
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to coordinating and promoting intramural sport leagues in 17 different sports for over 500 teams. Coordinating and promoting special events. Training/Supervising site directors and sport league officials. Coordinating schedules of all facilities and staff. Student Wellness Coordinator Assistantship
Responsible for designing recreational programs and coordinating events with the intramural office as part of the residential staff in one of the undergraduate housing units. Recruit students to participate in intramural competition and promote university functions supporting good enthusiasm and physical activity.
