PE 36 (1 hr) Badminton basic skills of forehand, backhand, serve, smash, clear and drive are taught, practiced and developed with emphasis on fun, fitness, skill, sportsmanship, and attitudes.
ACE 100 (3 hrs) Total Athlete Class emphasizes the necessity of maintaining a positive attitude and good communication skills. Other topics include peer pressure, racism, drugs, professional sports, and life after sports. Emphasis is placed on planning for the future, rather than letting circumstances determine an athletes future life.
ACE 156 (3 hrs) Principles and Problems of Coaching - It includes the program for Athletic Coaching Education (PACE) materials, contemporary videos and sportsmanship, the sport sciences are discussed including sportsmanship, legal liability and risk management - coaching philosophy, coaching motivation and coaching physiology.
ACE 391 (3 hrs) Coaching Education. Each student is assigned a sport of his choice and writes specific practice plans and safety - liability considerations for that sport.

Innovative Techniques Applied in Classes
Students select from list of relevant topics and present three page paper both orally and in writing to the class (i.e., topic of Peer Pressure, Anabolic Steroids, Life After Sports). Teacher supplements important concepts.
Students can volunteer to give a brief report on their specific specialty. Tiffany Egan talked about abusive tennis parents.
Use of contemporary cartoon slides of some of the adverse consequences of using smokeless tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, anabolic steroids.
Use of former students as guest speakers in classes. Former NFL players spoke about Life and Drugs - Robert Alexander, Freddie Smalls, Dave Grant.
Students assigned unique projects such as cartoon warnings of dangers in selected sports, use of facilities.
Use of contemporary videos and films such as Coaching in the 90's, 1995. Students are quizzed often on contemporary issues in athletics, physical education, and education (i.e., NCAA's new guidelines for student athletes).
Students are quizzed on current events at WVU frequently.
Students are allowed to do extra credit projects such as inexpensive elementary physical education equipment, drug education, bulletin boards, observe guest speakers.
