Services Available
What services are available?
Therapists help clients maintain mental and behavioral health by providing a variety of services for children, adults, and families. Some of the services offered include psychological assessment, individual therapy and group therapy.
Who is eligible for services?
Anyone may schedule an appointment. It is not necessary for individuals to be affiliated with West Virginia University to receive services at the QCC. Should the QCC not be suitable for the needs of a client, a referral will be made to an appropriate service provider.
What is the fee for services?
The QCC operates on a sliding fee scale, ranging from $10 to $40 per session.
Confidentiality
Visits are protected by the highest professional standards of confidentiality, as specified by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA; 1996), West Virginia state law and the American Psychological Association's "Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct."
Specialty Services
Anxiety and Phobias: Psychological evaluation and treatment for problems such as panic symptoms, agoraphobia, social phobia, excessive worrying, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety with depression is available for both adults and children
Depression: Adults and older adults can receive therapy designed especially for problems with depression. Loss of interest, troubled sleep, and feelings of emptiness and loneliness are some of the signs associated with depression.
Child/Adolescent Behavior Problems: Treatment for problems including, but not limited to, aggression, noncompliance, substance use, and difficulty in social and academic performance is available for children and their families. Family therapy designed to reduce parent-adolescent conflict is available also.
Pain and Behavioral Medicine: Psychological assessment and management of chronic pain is available, as is treatment for dental and medical fear and avoidance. Therapy is provided in coping with stressful dental and medical procedures, and with chronic health problems. Assistance in health care compliance is offered as well.
Disorders of Late Life : Older adults and their families can receive evaluation and treatment for problems such as depression, anxiety, memory loss, sleep problems, relationship problems and difficulty adjusting to stressful situations like declining health or loss of a loved one. Services are also provided to help individuals cope with stress of caring for an older adult.
