Contributing to Religious Studies

Religious studies is a unique and important facet of the college experience. Learning about other religious traditions is extremely important in today's global atmosphere. Interaction with other cultures is as easy as sending an e-mail. But how can one effectively relate to those outside of one's own tradition with no appreciation or understanding of other world religions? The Program for Religious Studies provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in cultures and traditions previously not encountered which enables students to become well-rounded, knowledgeable members of contemporary society.

Finally, the Program for Religious Studies supports and compliments other programs at WVU such as History, Philosophy, and English. Thus, the program works well in conjunction with other fields of study. Yet on its own, the Program for Religious Studies provides students with the opportunity to complement and expand their own religious beliefs, allowing for spiritual fullness and growth. We are not yet where we want to be, however. There is increasing interest in religious studies at WVU, and our needs are genuine.

RELIGIOUS STUDIES PRIORITIES

  • A teaching fund which would enable the Religious Studies Program to offer more courses.
  • Endowed scholarship funds for students majoring in Religious Studies.
  • An undergraduate student academic enrichment fund to support students outside of the classroom who wish to broaden and enhance their WVU academic experiences.
  • Program endowment to support the administration of the program.

If you would like to contribute to the Program for Religious Studies, make your check payable to the WVU Foundation and mail it to:

PO Box 1650
Morgantown, WV 26507-1650

IMPORTANT: Please make sure you mark on the check's memo line where you want your gift to go. The Program has two funds it is trying to strengthen.

2V338-Religious Studies Program Fund which helps with current expenses as well as awards to students.
3V709-Religious Studies Teaching Fund which will help us increase the number of courses we can offer.

If you would like to donate to Religious Studies by using a credit card, please click on the "contribute" button below:

Again, please note in the appropriate box where you would like your donation to go.

You will note that this program does NOT have a separate fund to give students scholarship aid or enrichment awards. If you would like to create a named scholarship endowment, the contribution level is $25,000 which can be done as an outright gift or pledged over a 5 year period.
