Mediation

Mediation is a structured process of communication, where people can discuss and resolve issues between them. The process uses mediators who help clarify issues, identify possible options, and create a course of action that the involved parties agree upon. Some examples of relationships and issues that can benefit from mediation include the following:

Supervisor/Employee Relationships
Co-worker Relationships
Work Expectations
Annoying Habits
Credit for Work Done
Limited Resources

Mediation is an approach to resolving conflicts in the university community based on collaboration, development of mutually agreeable solutions, and characterized as the following:

Confidential
Voluntary
Effective Alternative to Grievances/Litigation
Impartial
Peer-Based
Cost-Free
Conducted on Official Time
