"One of the goals of colleges and universitites is to prepare students for a lifetime of learning. While the 'learning' which takes place in the classroom and the laboratories is the key to this process, extracurricular activities also afford students important opportunities to grow and develop."
- John W. Fisher
Dean WVU College of Law and Advisor for Mountain Honorary
Student Organization Leader:
As the holiday season draws near, West Virginia University Student Organization Services (SOS) and the Student Government Association (SGA) are coordinating the annual Students Helping Other People (SHOP) and Toy Mountain programs. SHOP is a program that pairs WVU student volunteers with local kids ages 6-12 that go “SHOPping” at Super K-Mart. These children are permitted to spend $75.00 to purchase items from clothes to toys. This year the event will take place on December 8, 2007 beginning in the Mountainlair then, WVU buses will provide transportation to Super K-Mart.
In order to continue these important projects, we need your help!
Please consider making a contribution of $75.00 per child, and providing student volunteers to SHOP with the children. This is a great way for your organization to help local children and allow members to get involved.
Please return the attached form, no later than November 30, 2007 if your organization would like to participate. Please direct any questions to Kristin at 304-293-3873 or email James at James.Bailey@mail.wvu.edu.
With your help we will continue these projects that have been helping with local children for over 20 years. This is a great way to enrich the holiday season for local children who may not have had anything during this time.
Happy Holidays
