Emergency Procedures

In Case of Family or Student Emergencies

In the event of emergencies involving WVU students, students and parents should contact the Office of Student Life at 304-293-5611.

If the emergency occurs outside of normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m.–4:45 p.m.), please call the Department of Public Safety at 304-293-3136 where someone is on call 24 hours a day. Please note that our DPS officers are trained to handle emergencies involving our students and will notify other University personnel to assist with the situation. This might include contacting a counselor from the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, contacting a student’s Resident Faculty Leader, or asking staff members from the Office of Student Life to help notify a student of a family crisis or to inform professors that a family emergency has required a student to be away from campus.
