Cathy O'Dell
Adjunct Instructor of Theatre
Cathy O'Dell teaches Introduction to Theater and has developed
and is currently teaching a movement/acting class geared towards graduate and undergraduate
opera students. Cathy received her BA
in Theater and Speech Communications from Fairmont State College,
and her MFA in Acting from West Virginia University. Her other
training includes an Advanced Acting course from Carnegie Mellon
University. She
also teaches at Fairmont Stage College. Her duties there include teaching Voice
and Diction, Speech Improvement and Theater Appreciation. She has recently
developed and is teaching Voice for the Stage, which puts emphasis on voice training
for classical texts and voice-over training. Cathy has acted professionally at
the American Contemporary Theater Festival. Her regional and local experience
includes acting and directing at MT Pockets Theater and Fairmont State College.
Her other professional work includes on-camera acting in several national industrial
and training films and extensive voice-over work in the Pittsburgh/Ohio area.
Cathy was also a featured actor in The Learning Channel's production of a documentary
entitled Night Visitors.
