Sharon Goeres became the Academic Lab Supervisor of the Costume Shop in 2001. After receiving her BFA degree in Art Education from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, where she received the Newburg Art Award, she continued her art/design education at the University of Iowa. After completing her MFA degree in Costume Design/Technology at West Virginia University, she worked for such theatres as the Guthrie in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as an intern on the costumes for Mozart’s Amadeus, and with West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown, where she worked on costumes and props for their productions. Her career includes teaching basic design classes to elementary, junior and high school students at Western Dubuque County (Iowa) schools, as well as teaching adult art classes at the Monongalia Art Center in Morgantown. She has designed costumes for such productions as All My Sons, An Ideal Husband, Pippin and the children’s plays, The Poet and the Rent and Egor Dropped the Brain. Currently she is involved with Fiber Guilds, where she is learning various Nuno felting techniques that she plans to share with design/technology students at WVU.
