This Year's Guest Artists
Cheri Vasek
Guest Costume Designer for Mary Rose
Professor Vasek is Associate Professor of Costume Design and Technology at the University of Idaho. In addition to courses in costume design and theatrical makeup, she also teaches costume crafts (masks and millinery) and Asian Theatre History. Professor Vasek has worked as a costume craftsperson in several professional regional theatres throughout the United States, including The Guthrie Theatre and American Conservatory Theatre. She was the head Costume Dyer at the Santa Fe Opera for 3 years (2003-2005).
Professor Vasek’s recent costume design credits include The Corps of
Discovery and Pirates of Penzance for University of Idaho, Comedy of
Errors and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change for IRT, Death and
the Kings’ Horseman for Washington State University, and the world
premiere of An American Wife for the Northeast Theatre.
Professor Vasek will be in residence during October and early November
2007.
Jenny Rocha
Dance & Choreography
Jenny Rocha has worked with choreographers such as Sean Curran, Kelli Wicke Davis, and Heidi Latsky . She has been described by Jennifer Dunning of The NY Times as "a beauty in her clear bold way, her face nakedly revealing fierce self-confidence and vulnerability." Jenny's choreography has been presented at NYC venues such as Dancers Responding To Aids by Broadway Cares , Food for Thought and DraftWor k by Danspace Project, Underexposed by Dixon Place, Outback Series by the Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Deli Dances in Times Square , NEWSTEPS at Mulberry St. Theater, Joyce Soho Presents, Schoolhouse Rocks by PS122 , Oasis Festival by Chashama Theater , "It's A Dance Thing Too" by Lamama , and more. Rocha's evening length productions include the Chashama Theater NYC (2001), the Williamsburg Art Nexus NYC (2002), Green Street Studios (Emerging Artist Award) in Boston , MA (2004), The Carriage House in Providence , RI (2004) and recently Joyce Soho NYC (2005). Her film credits include choreographing and dancing for the film "Ode" by director, Gary Shore of RI in 2003. Jenny was also commissioned to choreograph 10 works for the equity showcase "Shirley at the Tropicana" in April of 2005. She is currently working with director/choreographer Kelli Wicke Davis, dancing for Heidi Latsky Dance, and is the artistic director for her NYC based dance company, Rocha Dance Theater.
