Internship Opportunities
West Virginia University’s Division of Theatre and Dance offers the following Internship opportunities in a variety of disciplines and areas of emphasis.
Puppetry/Childrens Theatre:
Walt Disney World
Members of the staff from Walt Disney World annually visit our campus and interview students for positions as performer and interns
in the construction shops at Disney World. Internships can be for an entire semester or for the summer.
Design/Technology:
Long Wharf
We are proud to announce our first internship agreement with the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. This prestigious regional theatre has agreed to hire two students as interns in the costume department. Each semester a different student will spend the entire three months at Long Wharf, while receiving university credit. We hope the agreement will grow to include all disciplines of technical theatre, management, and performance.
Eugene O’Neill Theatre
Eugene O’Neill Theatre has hired our first stage management intern and we hope this is only the beginning of our relationship with this exciting regional theatre.
Arkansas Repertory Theatre
Students assist in design on productions for this regional theatre. While off-site involvement may take place over an entire semester, resident involvement occurs during 2–3 weeks during the semester.
Jean Cocteau Repertory
Students assist in design on productions for this Obie Award–winning theatre in New York. While off-site involvement may
take place over an entire semester, resident involvement occurs during 1–2 weeks during the semester.
Berkshire Theatre Festival
Students may work in areas of scenery, props, costume, and construction during the summer season of this regionally acclaimed
festival in New Hampshire.
Texas Shakespeare Festival
All aspects of design/production are available for students during this regional summer theatres season.
Acting/Stage Management/Assistant Directing
American Contemporary Theatre
This nationally acclaimed summer theatre focusing on new works gladly accepts participants in acting, stage management,
and assistant directing.
The Georgia Shakespeare Festival
Acting opportunities available while working on classic text at this summer festival.
