Scholarships and Financial Aid

The Division of Theatre & Dance is pleased to offer a number of scholarship opportunities to incoming and current theatre majors and dance minors. For the 2007-2008 school year, there are 20 students receiving full tuition waivers, and another 20 receiving cash awards ranging from $500 to $2000 for the year. Students currently receiving scholarships represent all areas of the division: puppeteers, designers, technicians, actors, dancers, stage managers, and dramaturges, and hail from across the country including West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Texas, Iowa, New Jersey, and New York.

Full tuition waivers are available to both in-state and out-of-state students. Cash awards are applied first to any tuition costs, with any excess amount being distributed to the student for textbooks, supplies, etc. Both are renewable for up to four years of study (a maximum of eight semesters of university or college level study). Students receiving a Promise Scholarship are eligible for cash awards only.
Scholarships from the Division of Theatre and Dance are granted on the basis of outstanding talent, academic achievement (a 3.0 GPA minimum is required), and demonstrated potential for success in the program. Students receiving scholarships are responsible, active members of the Division, and represent the Division on campus and in the Morgantown community.

These awards are only part of what makes the WVU Division of Theatre and Dance unique. We are proud to be able to support so many students as they pursue undergraduate training in the theatre arts.
