Welcome!

Welcome to West Virginia University’s Department of Transportation and Parking. Our goal is to provide you with excellent transportation services and to make getting around our three campuses as effortless as possible. Our Department provides on-campus parking and fleet maintenance for University vehicles, operates shuttle and charter bus services to and around campus, and operates WVU’s world famous Personal Rapid Transit system known as the PRT.

Besides these services we are creating programs that encourage alternative transportation on our campus and around Morgantown. Students, faculty, and staff all have access to the Mountain Line, Mon County’s award winning regional transit system bus service. In the near future, employees will be able to access online carpool matching and coordinated vanpool programs. And we certainly encourage bicycle and walking to and around campus.

We are very excited about new facilities and planning initiatives that will be developed during the 2008 – 2009 school year. We are ready to begin construction on a new Intermodal Transportation Center that will house a 500 space parking garage, a transit terminal for the Mountain Line and WVU shuttle bus services, and bicycle lockers and showers for those that would like to ride their bike to campus. The Intermodal Transportation Facility will be completed in the fall of 2009. We will complete a Parking Facilities Master Plan in the fall of 2008 and complete a PRT Master Plan that will direct us in new operating technologies and vehicles in spring of 2009. As you can see, this will be an exciting year for Transportation and Parking at West Virginia University.
