Crop production in West Virginia is important to
local economies and helps maintain open rural areas,
thereby benefitting environmental quality and tourism.
Since crop production is related to natural resources
management (water, air, and soil), the agricultural
engineering program supports technologies and best
management practices (BMPs) to promote environmentally
sustainable crop production. To promote economic and
social sustainability, all stages of agriculture should
