INDUSTRIAL USER PERMIT POLICY
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to ensure compliance with the City of Morgantown Industrial Waste Ordinance Article 923 and reduce or eliminate restricted material from sewage wastewater that could interfere with or pass through the Morgantown Publicly Operated Treatment Works (POTW).
SCOPE
This policy will cover all discharges to the MUB sanitary collection system from Life Sciences (Outlets 05 & 06), Chemistry Annex (Outlet 04), Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center (Outlet 03) and most facilities located on the Evandsle Campus (Outlet 01). Industrial User Permits are site specific and each regional campus must develop their own policy as required.
POLICY
West Virginia University will establish procedures and provide guidelines to ensure compliance with the Morgantown Utility Board Industrial User Permit requirements.
PROCEDURE
Procedure development rests with Environmental Health and Safety as defined by the Morgantown Utility Board.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
All employees are charged with providing full support to this policy. It is the responsibility of the Dean or Director to implement and maintain this policy within their college, department, or unit.
Environmental Health and SAfety will provide written notification to the Morgantown Utility Board Pretreatment Program Manager within five (5) days of becoming aware of a slug discharge to the Morgantown sanitary collection system from a WVU facility.
The Environmental Health and Safety Office, at 293-3792 or P.O. Box 6551, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of the Environmental Health and Safety Office, West Virginia University.
