UNIVERSITY BUILDING LOCK UP POLICY

PURPOSE

To ensure appropriate access and adequate security to University facilities.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all University faculty, staff, and students who work in WVU facilities that are maintained by the Physical Plant.

POLICY

As a part of the normal procedure, all campus buildings maintained by the Physical Plant will be secured at 10:00 PM and reopened at 6:00 AM each workday unless other arrangements have been authorized. Authorization for access to buildings on off hours and weekends must be obtained from the WVU Department of Public Safety and/or the Building Supervisor of the building. Requests involving classroom scheduling must be referred to the WVU Department of Admissions and Records who, in turn, will contact Physical Plant for assistance.

PROCEDURE

The Directors of Physical Plant and the WVU Department of Public Safety and Transportation will be jointly responsible for procedure development.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The responsibility for implementation of this policy rests with the Resource Management/Campus Services sections of the Physical Plant and WVU Departments of Admissions and Records and Public Safety and WVU Building Supervisor(s). Physical Plant, at 293-4357 or P.O. Box 6570, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION

The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of the Physical Plant.
