UNIVERSITY SIGN POLICY
PURPOSE
To ensure uniformity, clarity, safety, and ADA compliance in WVU signs, both internal and external, for buildings and grounds that are maintained by the Physical Plant.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all University faculty, staff, and students who work in WVU facilities and on University grounds that are maintained by the Physical Plant.
POLICY
Requests for placement, replacement or upgrading of University signs, either internal or external, will be initiated through the Physical Plant Help Desk at 293-4357. It is important to address the issues of uniformity, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and safety related indicators. Physical Plant is not responsible for making desk name plates, directories or individual door personnel identification. The primary responsibility of Physical Plant is replacement/maintenance of existing room numbers, Americans with
Disabilities Act requirements, building identification and required existing safety identification.
PROCEDURE
Procedure development rests with the Physical Plant.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
The responsibility for implementation of this policy rests with the Resource Management section of the Physical Plant. Physical Plant, at 293-4357 or P.O. Box 6570, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of the Physical Plant.
