VEHICLE FLEET MANAGEMENT POLICY

PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to explain the management and approval of all passenger vehicles purchased by West Virginia University for Motor Pool purposes.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all University employees, including those on the regional campuses.

POLICY
Purchase of passenger vehicles for official University business must first be approved by the WVU Passenger Vehicle Fleet Manager and then titled and licensed to the State of West Virginia, Department of Administration, Travel Management Office. Passenger vehicles purchased in this manner will be managed for assignment and reporting purposes by the WVU Passenger Vehicle Fleet Manager through the WVU Motor Pool.

Situations may arise where a Motor Pool vehicle managed through the Motor Pool will need to be assigned for an extended length of time to a specific department.

PROCEDURE

Procedure development rests with the Department of Public Safety and Transportation Services.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The responsibility for implementation of this policy rests with the Department of Public Safety and Transportation Services. The Department of Public Safety and Transportation Services, at 293-3136 or P.O. Box 6561, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION

The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of the Department of Public Safety and Transportation Services, West Virginia University.
