DEFERRAL OF STUDENT FEES DURING A LEGAL WORK STOPPAGE POLICY
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to inform students under what circumstances the University will grant a deferral of fees during a legal work stoppage.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all University students, including those on the regional campuses.
POLICY
The University will provide a six month tuition and fee deferral to any student who demonstrates that he/she is financially affected by a legal work stoppage that commenced on or after the first day of January, 1993.
The legal work stoppage must be a work stoppage regulated by the Federal National Labor Relations Act or similar state laws regulating labor relations and concerted work stoppages.
A student will be considered to be financially affected by a legal work stoppage only if he/she complies with procedures outlined in the BOT Series No. 29 and WVU's Financial Aid Office needs assessment.
PROCEDURE
Procedure development rests with Revenue and Loan Services.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
The responsibility for implementation of this policy rests with Revenue and Loan Services and the Financial Aid Office. The Controllers Office, at 293-4002 or P.O. Box 6001, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Controller, West Virginia University.
