John Murray joined the organization Sept. 12, 2005 as the
Extension agent for Ritchie, Doddridge, and Gilmer counties. He is
responsible for educating adults and youths about agriculture and natural
resources. He will support 4-H youth development programs as well as
programs that enhance the economic viability of small farms.
Background:
In 2000, John received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture (animal and
veterinary science) from West Virginia University. He served as a graduate
research assistant for WVU’s Division of Resource Management, assisting in
research on the impact that federally designated wilderness areas have on
local economies. John earned his master’s degree in agriculture and
economics from WVU in 2003. He has experience as a store manager for a
tractor supply company and as a laborer with a contracting company and
with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tygart Lake. He was a member of
4-H and FFA while growing up on a small farm.
