Mite Control in Honey Bee Hives
With Essential Oils & Formic Acid Fumigation
Last update:  17 May 2006

We use natural essential oils to help control mites (the varroa mite, Varroa destructor Anderson and Trueman; and the tracheal mite, Acarapis woodi (Rennie)) in honey bee colonies and to improve the health of honey bee colonies. And, we use our 50% Formic Acid Fumigator to reduce severe populations of varroa mites.

Our four-part protocol in managing honey bees includes the following:

1. Screened Bottom Boards

2. Feeding Essential Oils to Honey Bees -

3. Wintergreen-Salt Grease Patties -
