Poultry Litter Distribution

Poultry Litter Distribution: Educational meetings were held outside he watershed to promote the use of poultry litter for feed and fertilizer use.  To improve the market link between litter producers and people who can use litter as a feed or fertilizer source,  a toll-free hot line was started during July 1996. This brokerage service has facilitated the movement of 4000 tons of litter out of the watershed. Improved distribution of poultry litter has reduced a portion of the excess nutrients and bacterial contaminants in the watershed.  Soil conservation districts have purchased poultry litter application equipment to augment distribution of litter out side the watershed.
