About the Career Services Center
Your
Career Begins Here!
The
WVU Career Services Center, which assists students in identifying
meaningful career options and preparing for the world of
work, offers a variety of services for students at all
levels of career development.
As
students begin to understand the relationship between majors
and careers, the Center offers Orientation 151, an online
course, designed as a “career fitness program” for
successful career planning, and its sister course, Orientation
252, “The Job Search,” which assists students
with documenting their background and college experiences
as they begin to target various career options.
To
help students gain experience, we encourage them to use
the Student Employment Office.
The Student Employment Office is a central location that classifies and
houses a collection of on-campus and off-campus job postings.
To use the service, a student need only be enrolled at
WVU.
This
year, the Center is offering new services for students
searching for employment. All students can register for Career Services through our new portal, MountaineerTRAK. This new service will allow students to submit their resumes for review by a Career Counselor, search for full-time and internship employment, schedule on-campus interviews, and register for career fairs.
We
also offer ‘career advice’ via the Career
Lifeline on the MIX. The site shows targeted career-related messages to students.
To
provide students with a greater range of career opportunities,
WVU has entered into a contract with CSO Research & MonsterTRAK.com, to create WVU MountaineerTRAK, an
online job posting, interview and event scheduling, software system for college students
and alumni. In addition to posting jobs, internship
opportunities and part-time positions daily, the site
offers a variety of career development resources, resume
and interview advice and job search strategies geared toward
college students and recent graduates.
During
the academic year, the Center also hosts employment expos,
job fairs and summer job fairs throughout the campus. Please
browse through Career Services' web pages and resources
and discover why your career begins here.
