What is the Career Services Center?

The Career Services Center is a centralized career planning and recruitment center for the West Virginia University. The Center provides resources and activities to help students and alumni in all areas of career planning and job search. Located above the Book Store in the Mountainlair, the Career Services Center has a qualified staff to deliver personal assistance to students and alumni.

Who can use the Career Services Center?

As a unit within the Division of Student Affairs, we at the Center make freshman through doctoral-level students our full-time business. Resources and services provided by the Career Services Center are available to students and alumni. Some services, which necessitate having a file established, do require that students and alumni seeking employment register with the Career Services Center.

How can the Career Services Center help me?

We at the Career Services Center are eager to discuss your career plans and concerns. During an individual career planning session with a Career Services Counselor, you can explore all the factors that need consideration before selecting or changing your major. We can direct you to appropriate career resources in our Library and suggest activities that could provide you with information that may be vital to those all-important decisions regarding your future. The Career Services Center also has a wide range of offerings for students nearing graduation and alumni who are interested in employment or graduate school. We have a variety of job search resources on such subjects as interview techniques, resume writing, and letter writing. We offer online job postings, virtual e-fairs, and on-campus interviews with prospective employers. To participate in on-campus interviews, you must register on MountaineerTRAK and be a degree-seeking WVU student.

What is the Career Success Academy?

In addition to the Career Services Center, West Virginia University also helps students prepare to make the most of career opportunities that will be presented to them when they graduate. The Career Success Academy is a freshman year to graduation program. In the Career Success Academy, students explore careers they want when they begin college, gain experience while in school, develop job seeking skills that give them a competitive edge, and learn what to expect as they start their careers. The Career Success Academy is a one-of-a-kind career development program that gives WVU graduates a unique opportunity to link their academic pursuits with a promising career.
