Dr. Morris received the Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 and the Master
of Science degree in 1987, both from Pittsburg State University (Kansas).
She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of
Mississippi in 1992. She completed her internship training and a
postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina,
specializing in clinical child psychology. She joined the faculty at West
Virginia University as an Assistant Professor in 1993 and was promoted to
the rank of Associate Professor in 1999, and to the rank of Professor in
2004. Dr. Morris received the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences
Outstanding Researcher Award in 2002, was named Woodburn Professor
for 2005-2007, and received the Benedum Distinguished Scholar Award
in 2006. In 2009 she was named Eberly Distinguished Professor of Teaching.
She serves as coordinator of the Clinical Child Psychology doctoral
program.
Dr. Morris’ research is in the area of developmental psychopathology, with a special interest in social anxiety disorder. Her research focuses primarily on social behavior including the influence of parent-child interaction and peer-relations on the development, maintenance, and expression of anxiety and depression. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of psychopathology, social psychology, history of psychology, marital and family assessment and therapy, and the psychology of cinema. |
