
The Carruth Center presents two new 1-credit-hour classes for undergraduates on managing stress and improving personal relationships. These classes are specifically designed to be added at mid-semester for students who need or want an additional credit.

Seminar on Personal Relationships
Peter Kahn, Ph.D.
The goal of this class is to help WVU students develop and enhance their personal relationships, especially dating and committed relationships. Each of the seven two-hour seminar sessions will feature a varied combination of brief lecture, watching and discussing selected videos on the session topic, and practicing new skills in a safe, enjoyable environment. A variety of personal exercises will allow students to explore the influences of their families and personal values in how they approach relationships. In addition, we will learn and practice new ways to communicate more effectively with others in our lives.
This class will meet on Wednesdays, 1:00 to 2:50 PM, starting Oct. 17, 2007. The Class meets in the Electronic Classroom of Stalnaker Hall and enrollment is limited to 25 students.

Managing and Reducing Stress
K. Sue Hodgson, Ph.D.

A one– credit hour class that will help you identify, understand and manage your stress. In this class, you can expect to learn how the stress process works, what your chronic and/or unusual stressors are, how lifestyle influences your ability to cope, and you’ll learn about different physical and psychological coping techniques.
This class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 to 3:20 PM, starting Oct. 9, 2006. The Class meets at the WVU Rec Center and enrollment is limited to 25 students.
