Camping - Savage River State Forest/Big Run State Park (MD)
Description
This area has a tremendous amount of outdoor recreation resources. Hiking, Backpacking, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, and Cross Country Skiing are available nearby. Big Run State Park has 30 rustic campsites on a first come, first served basis for $15 per night as well as a youth group site for $60 per night. The Savage River State Forest has 52 primitive roadside sites. These are located on roads throughout the forest. Nearby, New Germany State Park also has camping facilities including 39 reservable sites plus overflow sites and a bathhouse.
Directions from Morgantown
I 68 into MD. Take exit 22 and follow Chestnut Ridge Rd south to New Germany Rd. Turn left onto New Germany Rd and travel 1.3 miles to New Germany State Park. Continue from here south for 3.8 miles to Big Run Rd on the left. Go 5 miles to Big Run State Park.
