X-Country Skiing - Snake Hill WMA

Description

The Snake Hill WMA includes over 7 miles of unmarked and unmanaged trails/roads. The terrain is mostly flat beginner level skiing with some connector trials warranting an intermediate rating. The "Big Field" provides 30 acres of great beginner skiing with rolling terrain that allows skiing with minimal snow and holds snow well. The area has been logged recently and there is a new gas pipeline swath. Over time, these will likely become good ski trails. This area gets a lot more snow than in town and holds snow longer as well. There are a number of local residents who ski at Snake Hill and provide tracks for the rest of us. No facilities. Area Map.
