Hiking - Savage River State Forest (MD)
Description
There are 78 miles of trails throughout this 54,000 acre area of hardwood forests streams and creeks. Not all trails link together, so plan accordingly. New Germany State Park is within the forest and contains 12 miles of trails. Trail maps are available at the forest office or can be ordered through the web site below.
Directions from Morgantown
I 68 into MD. Take exit 22 and follow Chestnut Ridge Road south to New Germany Road. Turn left onto New Germany Road and travel two miles. The entrance to the forest headquarters is on the right.
