Hiking - Big Sandy Creek/Wonder Falls
Description
Swimming holes abound at this clean creek (a minority in Preston Co.). Wonder Falls, the most popular swimming hole is 1 mile downstream from the bridge, accessable by walking down a rough 4x4 rd on river right. Be aware that there are times (usually on weekends and nighttime) that this area is frequented by locals and college students drinking and partying.
Directions from Morgantown
I 68 East to Coopers Rock exit. Turn left off exit and go 3.3 miles (bottom of the hill) to CR 73/5 (Laurel run rd). Go right for .6 miles. At the intersection go left on gravel rd for about 3 miles to the creek. See the whitewater page for a map of the site.
