What Is 4-H?

4-H...More Than You Ever Imagined! Kids in 4-H have fun! It is a youth program that teaches "hands-on" activities. Whether they are learning about photography, the environment, job skills or public speaking, young people practice a variety of skills in 4-H that will last a lifetime. 4-H is open to any youth between the ages of 9 and 21. A pre-4-H Cloverbud program is available for 1st-and 2nd-grade children. Many opportunities are available through 4-H, including WVU/4-H Football and Basketball Day, county and state summer camps, public speaking contests, judging contests, nature walks and conservation camps, community service projects, officer training and more.

How Can I Join?

To learn more about becoming a 4-H member, contact Tina Cowger by e-mail, or phone 367-2772, or stop by the Marion County Extension Service Office at 314 Monroe Street 2nd Floor Jacobs Building in downtown Fairmont. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
