Volunteer Workshops

There are two professional development workshops scheduled for early 2002.

Moving Ahead: Basic Training for Preparing the Youth Development Professional will be conducted January 22-23, 2002, at WVU Jackson's Mill, Weston, for any person working with youth programming in West Virginia. This training is designed to prepare the youth professional to implement a comprehensive youth program that fosters positive growth and development in youth. This two day training will provide the youth professional with an understanding of youth development work, key youth development concepts, meeting youth needs, establishing norms, and understanding the protective factors for meeting the needs of youth. The cost of the training is $175 per participant, which covers meals and lodging, and conference materials. For more information, contact Patrick Nestor at 304-269-5100.

Moving Ahead Registration Form


Effective Volunteer Management: a one-day training designed for individuals managing or supervising volunteers in local agencies, schools, hospitals, United Way organizations, etc. The session includes topics of why people volunteer, motivational theory, risk management, design of volunteer applications, and volunteer evaluation and recognition. The training is scheduled to be conducted February 26, 2002 at WVU Jackson's Mill, Weston, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $35, which includes conference materials, lunch and refreshments.
