Greg Donewar, a law enforcement specialist with West Virginia University Fire Service Extension (WVU-FSE), has been appointed WVU-FSE’s interim director effective November first.
He assumes the position left open when Jeff Simpkins, WVU-FSE program leader for the past several years, resigned in late October. Donewar, who has a master’s degree in management, has also attended the FBI National Academy, the nation’s foremost training center for law enforcement executives.
Donewar has more than 20 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, nearly 14 of which he spent serving in the capacity as chief of police in cultural and geographically diverse areas of Colorado, Alaska and Arizona. He has received awards for innovative programs and has experience in professional accreditation standards. Donewar joined WVU-FSE in May 2005.
