November 2009 through March 2010 - Historic Area Winter Hours

No regular weekend hours are scheduled during the winter months. The General Store is open most weekdays, and by arrangement. We recommend that you call ahead to verify availability before making the trip.

December 4 & 5, 2009- Winter Lights

Join us for this annual celebration!

We'll be doing candle lightings both evenings beginning at dusk, and lighting a tree in the Historic Area at 7:30pm.

The celebration kicks off on Friday, December 4th with our annual Winter Lights Buffet from 5-7pm. The menu includes roast turkey, baked steak, and all the trimmings including Jackson's Mill's famous homemade rolls. Admission is $11 for adults, $6 for children ages 4-12. Receive $1 off the price of your meal with the donation of a non-perishable food item for charity.

The younger set is invited to spend some time with Father Christmas on Saturday, and hear how the holidays were celebrated in earlier times! This hour of music, storytelling and fun begins at 6:30pm in the General Store, and will wind up just in time for the evening's tree lighting out on the porch at 7:30pm. There's no admission charge.

December 4-6, 2009 - National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association Trade Fair & Banquet

Activities at this new event will include an indoor Trade Fair, American Heritage Benefit Banquet and Muzzleloading Novelty Shoot.

The trade fair is scheduled for the Assembly Hall and will include items related to muzzleloading firearms, supplies, or related crafts, muzzleloading, and muzzleloading hunting. Hours are 3-9pm on Friday, noon-9pm on Saturday, and 10am-3pm on Sunday. Admission is $2. NMLRA members admitted free.

Saturday's banquet will include dinner, speakers, drawings and a slient auction. Available items will include a whitetail deer hunt, whitewater rafting trips, a Traditions muzzleloading rifle, and leather shooting bags. Tickets are $20.

The muzzleloader shoot will be held on Saturday from 9am-3pm. Prizes for this novelty shoot will be awarded in Fair Bucks, which can be spent with the vendors at the trade fair, or in the General Store at WVU Jackson's Mill.
