Course Description:
This teaching techniques course will help the student develop education skills
when teaching safety and health topics to workers. It will cover basic issues
starting with the development of course objectives and a teaching outline.
The course will stress participation technique, role playing, case problems,
questionnaires, etc. Techniques for presenting and focusing information will
also be demonstrated and explained (e.g., lecture, flip charts, overheads,
power-point, computer-based content, etc.). Each student will be asked to prepare
a teaching outline on a safety and health subject and then to teach a small
group. These presentations will be critiqued and students will be given guidance
for improving their presentation.
