West Virginia University Extension Service (WVU-ES) recognized a local Extension office manager among its exemplary faculty and staff at an awards ceremony held recently at WVU Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Camp, Weston.

Charity Fellure, office manager of Putnam County’s WVU Extension office, was honored with the Individual Staff Excellence Award. The award recognizes staff members with more than three years of employment for their contribution in enhancing the work and image of the WVU Extension Service.

Fellure began her career with the Extension seven years ago. Her colleagues praise her as an “invaluable asset.” Her organizational and “people”skills have been a major benefit to the WVU Extension office’s 4-H program, which serves more than 1,640 youths and 130 adult leaders.

WVU-ES’s four major program areas are 4-H Youth Development; Families and Health; Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Community, Economic and Workforce Development.

Community-based Extension faculty and staff work on local issues with families, businesses and organizations through offices in each of the state’s 55 counties.

Information about WVU-ES programs is available on the Web (www.ext.wvu.edu).

The WVU Putnam County Extension office is located at 3389 Winfield Road, Winfield.
