Supporting the WVU Extension Service 4-H Youth Development Program can be as easy as going to the movies.

All you have to do use the Internet to buy tickets for the new live action movie “Charlotte’s Web,” which will be in theaters starting Dec. 15.

4-H will receive $1 for every ticket purchased through the National 4-H Council’s Web site (www.fourhcouncil.edu). Hollywood Movie Money will donate the funds, based on the ZIP codes entered by ticket-buyers.

West Virginia 4-H will receive 100 percent of the donations for all the tickets purchased by people entering West Virginia ZIP codes.

Tickets may be purchased before the movie opens. At the Web site, click on “Buy Movie Tickets.” You’ll learn the locations of theaters near you that accept Hollywood Movie Money ticket certificates.

After purchasing tickets with a credit card, you’ll print ticket vouchers to redeem at the theater. Pricing at your local theater will determine the cost of your tickets. The $1 donation is part of a $2 per-ticket processing fee. The ticket certificates may be used through Jan. 31, 2007.

The movie, adapted from a children’s book by E.B. White, was produced by Paramount Pictures and Walden Media. It features a 4-H member who uses her head, heart, hands and health to save Wilbur, the pig, from the smokehouse. With help from Charlotte, the spider, and other animal friends, Wilbur lives and goes to the 4-H fair.

More than 56,000 young people participate in West Virginia’s 4-H program, operated by the WVU Extension Service through its 55 county offices.
