West Virginia’s 4-H’ers and their families have caught Mountaineer basketball fever. The 4-H Basketball Day tickets for the Feb. 17 game against Seton Hall sold out so quickly that the WVU Extension Service has scheduled a second campus visit day—Feb. 24— for the annual statewide program.
The second wave of 4-H members and their families will cheer on the Mountaineer women’s team when they play Cincinnati in the Coliseum at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.
Tickets are still available for the second 4-H Basketball Day.
More than 500 4-H’ers and family members from throughout West Virginia will exhibit their Mountaineer basketball fever Feb. 17 when the men’s team plays Seton Hall at 4 p.m. and the women’s team plays South Florida at 6:30 p.m.
For both sets of 4-H visitors, 4-H Basketball Day will include more than a trip to the WVU Coliseum. Before watching the Mountaineers play, middle school students will tour the WVU Recreation Center; high school students will meet with WVU Dental School faculty and students; and parents will meet with WVU Parents Club and financial aid office representatives.
The WVU Extension Service organizes 4-H Basketball and Football Days to raise college awareness among West Virginia’s youths. The annual visits offer educational and recreational programs on campus in Morgantown.
Registration for the second Basketball Day is $20. Participants will receive basketball tickets, 4-H Basketball Day T-shirts and lunch. 4-H Basketball Day will be held regardless of the weather conditions, and refunds will not be given.
4-H is a statewide program sponsored by the WVU Extension Service. Each year, 4-H educates more than 56,000 West Virginia youths through activities that involve them in community service, technology education, entrepreneurship and career experiences.
To be part of an individual county delegation, before Feb. 9 contact a local office of the WVU Extension Service, which has an office in every county.
WVU Extension Specialist Jeffrey Orndorff (304-293-2694) and the Web (www.wvu.edu/~exten/depts/famyou/4h/4hbasket.htm) also have program details.
