Doddridge County Points of Pride

- The Be Smart-Eat Smart nutrition education program is now offered to local
communities. In eight weeks, individuals and families learn about food safety,
nutrition, and food budgets.
- More than 40 adult volunteers help 120 youths learn about leadership, citizenship,
and community service in nine local community 4-H clubs.
- Through the six-week Energy Express summer reading and nutrition program,
40 students maintained or improved their reading skills with the help of five
college-student mentors.
- Diabetics and caregivers gain skills in meal planning and preparation through
three-session Dining with Diabetes cooking schools. The schools reached 33
county residents.
- Ten Community Educational Outreach Service clubs provide monthly educational
lessons, leadership training, and community service.
- Beef cattle short courses and agronomy newsletters are offered as a multicounty
effort.
- Area auctioneers and private pesticide applicators attended recertification
credit courses.
- The WVU Extension Service in Doddridge County is a partner in the community
coalition that promotes trustworthiness, respect, fairness, responsibility,
caring, and citizenship.
